Welcome, and thanks for using the Kiln Schedule Designer. Please read these Terms of Use carefully before using the tool. By accessing or using the Kiln Schedule Designer (the "Tool"), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Tool.
1. About the Kiln Schedule Designer
The Kiln Schedule Designer is a free, web-based tool that helps kiln-formed glass artists generate suggested firing schedules based on glass manufacturer guidelines and widely-shared community practices. The Tool is provided as a companion resource to My Glass Cookbook and is operated by the maintainers of My Glass Cookbook ("we," "us," or "our").
2. Use at Your Own Risk
The firing schedules produced by the Tool are suggestions — not professional recommendations, and not guarantees.
Kiln firing involves high temperatures, specialized equipment, and materials that behave differently across kilns, environments, and projects. You are solely responsible for every firing you perform. You agree that:
- You will independently evaluate any schedule generated by the Tool before running it.
- You will make test firings when trying a new glass, profile, project size, or kiln.
- You will adjust schedules to match your specific kiln, thermocouple placement, shelf mass, environment, and piece.
- You accept all risks related to your use of the Tool, including but not limited to: breakage, thermal shock, devitrification, mold loss, equipment damage, injury, or fire.
You use the Tool at your own risk.
3. Not Professional Advice
The Tool does not provide professional engineering, safety, or manufacturer-certified advice. Nothing produced by the Tool replaces the judgment of a trained glass artist, the official documentation of your glass manufacturer, or the safety instructions from your kiln's manufacturer. If you are unsure about a firing, consult your glass manufacturer, your kiln's manufacturer, or a qualified instructor before proceeding.
4. Manufacturer Data
The Tool incorporates information drawn from publicly available firing guidelines published by glass manufacturers including Bullseye Glass Co., Oceanside Glass & Tile, and Wissmach Glass. These manufacturers are not affiliated with, nor do they endorse, the Kiln Schedule Designer. All manufacturer names, logos, and trademarks are the property of their respective owners and are used here for identification and educational purposes only.
5. No Warranty
The Tool is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including (without limitation) warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, reliability, or uninterrupted availability. We do not warrant that any schedule produced by the Tool will be appropriate for your project, will produce a desired result, or is free from errors or omissions.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall we, our affiliates, contributors, or the maintainers of My Glass Cookbook be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages — including but not limited to damages for lost glass, damaged kilns or equipment, lost profits, loss of data, personal injury, or property damage — arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Tool, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. If, notwithstanding the foregoing, any liability is found, it shall be limited to the amount you paid to us for use of the Tool in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim — which, for a free tool, is zero dollars ($0.00).
7. Intellectual Property
The design, code, interface, and original content of the Kiln Schedule Designer are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. You may use the Tool for personal, educational, and commercial kiln-forming work, and you may freely use the firing schedules the Tool generates. You may not copy, redistribute, resell, or reverse-engineer the Tool itself, or misrepresent the Tool's output as official manufacturer guidance.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Tool in any way that:
- Violates any applicable law or regulation;
- Interferes with or disrupts the Tool, our servers, or other users' access;
- Attempts to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Tool, its underlying systems, or the data of other users; or
- Misrepresents the Tool's output as safety-certified or manufacturer-endorsed advice.
9. Changes to the Tool or These Terms
We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue the Tool (or any part of it) at any time without notice. We may also update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the Tool after changes are posted means you accept the revised Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the maintainers of My Glass Cookbook are based, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or your use of the Tool shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
